Ratepayers Association

The Opito Bay Ratepayers’ Association (OBRA) is an incorporated society established in 1995, with the following objectives:

  • To promote and protect the lawful interests, activities and concerns of the ratepayers, of the territory (defined as Opito Bay and Matapaua Bay)
  • To act for the preservation, protection and enhancement of the natural character and sustainable use of the coastal environment, the coastal marine area, and the environment generally within and surrounding the territory.
  • To become a member of and/or co-operate with any other association or society whether or not  incorporated, whose objects are compatible with the objects of the Association.
  • To make, maintain and publish such rules and regulations as are considered necessary or desirable for the above purposes.
  • To carry out and foster such other aims and objects as may be conducive to the attainment of the foregoing objects.

We typically have three meetings each year at Anniversary weekend, Easter weekend and Labour weekend. We are extremely grateful to the Biel family who continue their long term support of the Association by making their Helicopter Shed available for these meetings.
